I’ve noticed that as I’ve grown older, and more importantly, as I’ve deepened my relationship with Father, my taste in music has changed. I find myself listening to more Christian music because the message resonates with me more.
Don’t get me wrong, I still have the old playlists that I pull out occasionally. I love my 80’s – 90’s country, and I’ll listen to a Fleetwood Mac tune any day 🙂 .
However, as my relationship with Jesus grows, as I feel more connected to Him, I find myself looking for that connection in the music I hear as well. And…there are so many artists and groups out there that have music pouring out of their souls. Ok, maybe that was a little over exaggeration, but you know what I mean. There is a lot of great music out there glorifying Jesus and the Father!
I think the music we listen to changes who we are. You might think that is a stretch, too; however, I’ve seen it. There is some pretty dark stuff out there, and when a car pulls up next to me with it blaring, it makes me sad. First, I wonder what kind of situation is that artist in that they have to use foul language in their songs. Then, what kind of situation is the listener in that they feel the lyrics are ok? When you listen to sad music, you feel sad. When you listen to uplifting, happy music, well, your mood changes, and you feel better.
In 2026, friends, I just encourage you to listen to the happy. Listen to uplifting music that gives encouragement and hope. Yes, maybe even give a listen to a Christian tune, you might just find that you feel differently 🙂 . Music is a beautiful gift from Father, and it has the power to change your perspective. So yes, listen to the happy.
This morning, I’ll share a tune that I found this weekend. It came out about a year ago, and it’s sung by one of my fav’s, CeCe Winans. Oh, by the way, it’s a toe tapper 🙂 .
Happy Sunday, friends, may it be filled with family, friends, and Happy Music!
Psalm 95:1
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
