Getting Through

Over the past few days, I’ve been thinking about difficult things that have happened to people. Some I don’t even know. I shared a few days ago the story of a young 4-year-old boy who went missing on New Year’s Eve day. Unfortunately, they found his body a day or so later.

Of course, I pray daily for the return of sweet Emily Rea, the niece of a dear friend of mine who went paddleboarding in Montana one afternoon. She never returned and has been missing since July 16, 2024.

I think about friends who are dealing with health problems, some of which are a mystery to doctors. They struggle every day for answers, while they experience fear and uneasiness about what is to come.

I think about friends who struggle with the stress of a job or career. They don’t know where to turn or what the next day will bring.

As I mentioned a few days ago, bad things happen in this world. I believe that there are times when we have to go through the pain to see what Father has planned for us. I don’t think He intentionally hurts us, of course not. However, I believe that every experience in our lives shapes us and provides an opportunity to strengthen us.

Sometimes we have to break in order to mend or heal. The breaking allows us to give in fully to God. At that point, when we are broken, what do we have to lose by giving all our fears, frustrations, anger, and stress to Him? When we are at our lowest, I believe that is when Father is closest to us, holding us in His arms.

So friends, if you are going through a difficult time, whatever it may be, stop, and take time to let it all out. Let the tears come if they need to, let go of the fear, talk to Jesus, and tell Him all that you are feeling. Let all the emotion and pain go, and let Him begin to mend those wounds.

Then, tomorrow, do the same thing. Talk to Him and let the one who loves us more than we can understand, let Him guide your next steps. I believe each day will get easier, and you will find the strength to deal with the challenge(s) at hand.

God is with us, friends, He will never forsake us. We just need to give ourselves and our brokenness to Him. Let’s all continue to lift prayers for those in need. God hears them, and He will heal; it’s His promise to us.

Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
