There’s an old saying, “There’s no ‘I’ in team”. It’s pretty cliche’ I guess, but it’s very true as well, figuratively and literally. There is also no ‘I’ in Jesus or Father. Hmmm, great observation on my part, right? Well, just hear me out for a moment.
I was walking this morning, thinking about projects I’m working on, both personal and at work. Have you ever had those moments when someone offers to help, and your first thought is, “I don’t have the time to even explain what I need help with, so I’ll just do it myself”? Ya, been there, done that. My walk this morning gave me the chance to reflect on those times. It really is silly, you know, to not take help when it’s offered. I guess it’s a pride thing, we feel like we’ve failed if we can’t accomplish a task facing us.
The “No ‘I’ in Jesus”, ya, it’s the same concept. How many times in our lives have we tried to do it alone? We don’t invite Jesus in to help. We don’t just sit down and tell the Lord what we’re thinking and feeling (even though, yes, He already knows). He wants to be in the midst of everything we do in our lives. He wants to help us through the challenges we face, celebrate the joys, and comfort us in sorrow. If we be still and listen, truly listen, we’ll hear Him ask, “How can I help?”.
So friends, if someone offers help today, remember, no ‘I’ in team, no ‘I’ in Jesus. Go ahead, accept the offer of assistance; you’ll accomplish far more. And…when you hear Jesus ask, let Him in. Accept the grace and love that only He can provide. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did 🙂 .
Have a great day, everyone. Prayers up for sweet Emily Rea’s return.
