Yesterday, I spent the day on the water. I know, I know, many of you reading this were/are hunkered down through a major winter storm. Continued prayers for all of you in the frozen tundra!
It was a beautiful day, and almost perfect for being on the water. I have found recently that I just prefer to slowly ride around the canals around Marco Island. The wildlife is fascinating to watch, and you can stop on one of the nearby islands to shell. It’s just peaceful.
As I rode yesterday, I came upon a pair of dolphins. They were feeding when I first found them. It didn’t take long, though, for them to come and have some fun with me. You see, they are very smart animals; they can tell the difference between a propeller and a non-propeller watercraft. And…they like the bubbles in the water from the jetski ๐ .
So, I made my way to them following them as they went in and out of canals. Then they came to me, and we did this dance type of thing. It’s always amazing to see these beautiful animals up close. This pair was larger, and I could see that they had been hurt by propellers or other wildlife in their lives.
They stayed with me for quite a while, 10 minutes or so, which is long for them. Then began to make their way to other canals. I bid them farewell, smiling as they made their way to more lunch.
I spent the rest of my time on the water thinking about the pair. I thought about the Arc and how God instructed Noah to bring every animal in pairs onto it to be saved. I thought about the connection I felt with these beautiful creatures; it was like they were saying, “Welcome to our home”. Then, I thanked Father for the gift of all his creatures, big and small.
Friends, the beauty that surrounds us is truly amazing. We are so fortunate to see gifts every day of our lives, yes, even in the crazy winter months. Just take time as you begin your day to say thank you to our Lord for the amazing gift of His creation.
Have a wonderful day, friends. Prayers for all affected by this winter storm, continued prayers for little Briggs – he turned 2 months old yesterday, and prayers for the return of Emily Rea.
Psalm 104:24-25
Oย Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. Here is the sea, great and wide, which teems with creatures innumerable, living things both small and great.
