Don’t Let It

It’s been cold here the past few weeks in Florida. Now, before all you northerners give me a what for, let me continue 🙂 . If you’ve been following this little blog for long, you know that I sit on my lanai in the morning and evening to spend quiet time with Father. Well, the cold temperatures, especially at the times when I’m normally out there, have made it a little uncomfortable. So, I’ve moved to the quiet of my office, which is fine, but admittedly, I miss the sounds and the nature I see from my lanai.

Well, this morning I found myself back on the lanai, and the peacefulness of the morning before our fountain starts, and the community becomes active. I heard the sounds of the birds, all different shapes and sizes, the fish were active in the lake, it is a beautiful morning for sure, and yes, it’s much warmer 🙂 . I was able to spend a wonderful bit of time just talking with our Lord and giving thanks for all the gifts of this life.

I realized, as I was getting ready to come inside, how I wished I could stay in that setting for the rest of the day. Just be in the peacefulness of the sound of God’s creatures, and not wrapped up in the noise of today’s world.

It is so easy to get sucked into the day-to-day noise, social media, news, and commentary, that we lose sight of the most important thing in the world, the Lord. I’m sure there are days when He just looks at us, His children, and shakes His head. I’m sure there are days when even He weeps at how we behave. And…I’m even more certain that Satan is having a good time, making as much noise as possible.

Friends, today, this weekend, let’s not let the noise overtake us. Let’s set aside those things that distract us from our relationship with Jesus. Spend time with Him. Listen to music that is uplifting and brings you closer to Him; let that be the noise you hear. Take a walk in the beauty of His creation, listen to the sounds of his beautiful creatures, not the sounds of those who just want to seem important.

Let’s quiet the noise that comes between our Lord and us, let’s tell satan we’re turning off his radio. When we do that, I think we’ll find that we are stronger, happier, and more at peace than we’ve been before 🙂 .

Have a good day, friends.

Oh that you would keep silent, and it would be your wisdom!
