I haven’t had the chance to capture a nice sunrise or sunset recently. It’s been cold and windy most nights when we’ve left the office, and stepping out on the beach only increases the cold and wind. Ya, I know, I’ve gotten pretty whimpy lately.
So, I’ve been going back through my hundreds of sunrise and sunset photos that I’ve taken over the years to use for the cover image of recent little blog posts. It’s been fun to start back as far as 2015 and make my way through them. It’s given me a chance to delete some not-so-good images, and more importantly, to play remember when through the others.
I’m surprised at how much I recall, even back that far, about some of these sunrises and sunsets. Beautiful pictures of sunsets just after a rain. Sunrises as I walked along country roads back home. Then, of course, there are the beautiful pictures from friends over the years, as they captured the perfect glow in the morning or evening.
I was thinking this morning about going back and recalling all the places and times I’ve been fortunate to see these beautiful scenes that Father blesses us with almost every day. So many wonderful memories, and simpler times. Yes, there are days when I think that going back many years wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Many say that the technology of today has made our lives so much easier and better than they were in the past. I think you could argue both sides of that statement, but that is for a little blog on another day. I just know that going back and remembering our past is important. There were lessons learned that should not be repeated. On the flip side, there were wonderful things that occurred that should be cherished and passed on.
We have a guide to follow, the word of God, the Holy Bible, that was written long, long ago. And…as I mentioned earlier, it shows us the lessons learned back then that should not be repeated. And…it shows us clearly how to live today, and in the future, and to accept the wonderful gifts that Father gave us and continues to give us every day.
Have a good day, friends. I’m hoping to catch a sunset tonight (maybe I’ll pull my down coat out of the closet). Continued prayers for our friend Martha, and for the return of Emily Rea.
p.s. The cover of today’s little blog is a picture from Marco Beach back in 2015 🙂 .
Romans 15:4
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
