Responding to Faith

As I was walking this morning, I was listening to a music broadcast that CeCe Winans did many years ago. I enjoyed it because she was not only singing, but in between songs she was sharing about her relationship with Father. She talked about having Him in her life from the beginning. She shared how He is the center of all that she does. It was very uplifting to hear her passion for serving our Lord.

As I listened, I thought about my own faith and relationship with Father. I wondered if they could ever be as strong as CeCe’s. My goodness, the Holy Spirit flows from her with such ease. You can feel it move in her when she talks, much less sings with her beautiful voice. She exudes grace and love in all that she does.

During the conversations in the broadcast, she shared two things that I’m still thinking about. She was talking about our faith in the Lord, and she said, “We only doubt God when we’ve forgotten what He’s already done”. Then she said, “God responds to our faith”, meaning that He responds when we show our belief in His power.

I thought about times in the past when I had doubts, wondering if Father was hearing my prayers. Those were usually times when my faith was shaky, when I didn’t trust fully that the Lord was there. The Lord has told us over and over in the Bible that He will never leave us. But yet, I know I have had those moments when I’ve felt alone and didn’t go to Him first. If we believe in Him, and we give it all to Him, show Him our faith, He will respond. We have to believe, and we have to share that faith with others, otherwise what are we doing here in this world?

Jesus told us that, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” So yes, we will face challenges, there will be difficult times; however, Jesus knows firsthand what we will feel. God gave us His Son to pay the price for us. Is there any greater gift of faith that we could have than knowing on the third day, the tomb was empty?

God is with us, friends, He will never forsake us. Trust in Him, and let your faith be your guide.

1 John 5:4
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
