Not a Part-Time Job

I guess when you read the title of today’s little blog, you might be thinking I’m coming here to talk about work. Well, I am, sort of. I heard something this morning on my walk, while listening to a podcast, and boy, it struck me. The host said, “Jesus did not offer us a part-time job”. Just give that some thought for a moment.

It’s pretty straightforward, how we are to live our lives every day. Every day, all the time, live our lives for Him. Follow His will, do His work, freely share His love. It’s easy to say that I know. We face challenges, we have days when things go wrong, and we question if Father can really love us enough to forgive us. Well, He does, and He will.

The Lord wants all of us, all the time. He’s a jealous God; He told us so. In those moments during the day when we want to make it about us, focus on ourselves and have our own pity party, we just need to remember that it’s about Him and His wishes. If we just ask ourselves, “Am I glorifying Him with what I’m saying right now?” or “Is He pleased with what I just did?”, we’ll know pretty quickly if we’re focusing on Him or ourselves.

Jesus didn’t offer us a part-time job; no, He wants us to enjoy all the benefits of a full-time position with Him. He wants a relationship so special that it’s what we think about all the time, not just when we feel we need Him.

So, friends, today, live into a full-time relationship with the Lord. Give every decision to Him, give thanks to Him for the gifts He supplies, and give all of yourself to Him fully. Let others see His light in you, show them that they, too, can have a full-time gig with the Lord.

Have a good day, friends. Please continue to lift prayers for the return of Emily Rea. She’s been on my heart lately. Father, please bring your child Emily home.

Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters.
