Today is a day to celebrate. Well, every day is a day to celebrate in my opinion 🙂 . Today, though, we celebrate my brother’s birthday.
I am the baby of the family and have two older brothers. So, as you can probably guess, growing up, I was what we used to refer to as a “tomboy”. Although I have to admit I’m not sure where the heck that term came from for a girl. Anyway, I was frequently used to test the latest wrestling move that my brother learned while at practice. Or, was the sidekick when he thought it would be great to build a skateboard ramp out of old plywood and 2 x 4’s. Ya, it was about 8′ high and dangerous as all get out, but we had a blast.
He was the one who got me into the martial arts; he was the one I cheered for when he was making his way through the wrestling divisional competitions in high school, and the one I cried for when he suffered a “career-ending” knee injury.
But…more importantly…he was there when I was growing up to teach me, guide me, and support me when things were tough. We didn’t grow up with much, but our little family had each other, and those bonds are tight, very tight.
So this morning, I share the birthday prayer, as I do for all my loved ones on their birthday.
Watch over thy child, O Lord, as his days increase; bless and
guide him wherever he may be. Strengthen him when he
stands; comfort him when discouraged or sorrowful; raise
him up if he fall; and in his heart may thy peace which
passeth understanding abide all the days of his life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Michael, I love you and wish you a wonderful day filled with love, laughter, oh, and cake! Thank you for always being there, and thank you, Lord, for the gift of my brother 🙂 .
Have a good day, friends!
Philemon 1:7
For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.
