Subtle Pep Talk

This morning, I noticed that the rest of the community was very quiet. Of course, it was dark outside; it usually is when we get up during the week. But this morning, even the neighbors who are usually up when we are weren’t. Homes were still dark, and as I sat out on the lanai, even the birds and animals that are normally waking and “talking” weren’t. I almost immediately noticed how quiet it was and said out loud, “Interesting how quiet it is this morning, Lord.”

I looked up, and the stars were shining so bright in the sky that there was just this sense of calm everywhere. As I gazed at those stars, thinking about my hefty to-do list, the Bible verse from Philippians just popped into my head, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

As I said, my to-do list right now is pretty hefty at work, and admittedly, my mind has been going nonstop for several weeks. I think Father knew that I needed reassurance, and what a beautiful way to deliver it this morning. He provided the unmistakable calm weekday morning. Something very unusual. He provided the beautiful scene of the stars shining bright in the sky. He provided the message that He is right here with me. And…He gave the reminder that with Him, I can tackle the hefty yet, in the grand scheme of things, little to-do list.

I think it’s important to look for moments like I had this morning. Find the quiet in those days that are usually quite loud. Steal away some time with the Lord and allow Him to fill your cup. Allow Him to give you those comforting words to reassure you that He is there. Allow Him to give you that pep talk you need.

Those moments when we allow ourselves to slow down and be present, the reassurances we need will be there. The Lord knows what we need, when we need it, and if we allow Him, He will provide. Even if it’s just a subtle little pep talk.

Have a good day, friends 🙂 .

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
