More is Better

Hmm…the title of today’s little blog could be a good thing or not so much. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “The more the better”. Again, that can be a good thing, and then not so much.

Take, for instance, our weather here in Florida this past eight months or so. We are called the Sunshine State for a reason. The beautiful sunshine brightens most days, except of course during hurricane season, where we get our afternoon showers, and hopefully that’s it. Many would say, “the more sun the better”. This is where I say, not so much. We’ve had incredible sunshine this “season”. However, what that means is we’ve barely seen a cloud, and we’ve definitely not seen rain. We are in a big-time drought, and it’s really taking a toll. So, in this case, ya, more is not better.

There are times, though, when more is better. This morning I changed up my routine. You all know that I spend time on the lanai (Florida term for patio), each morning. I read a daily morning devotional that a friend sends to me, and I talk with Father to start the day. This morning I decided to spend the time on the lanai reading the devotional, but having my morning chat with Father during my walk. I did this to spend more time with the Lord.

Normally, I’d spend 10 minutes or so on the lanai. My walk usually takes about 30 minutes, and today, I spent that time having deeper conversation and prayer with the Lord. You know what, more is better. Today, that additional time, well, it changed my conversation. I shared more, listened more, prayed more. Yes, more is better.

Friends, as we enter this final week of Lent, I encourage you to spend a little more time with Father. Share more, pray more, and listen more. I think you’ll find you’re better for it.

Have a good day, everyone πŸ™‚ .
