So, this week I’ve been talking with Father as I do my morning walk or bike ride. It’s been a nice change, as I’m spending more time in conversation and prayer. As I was riding along this morning, listening to the consistent hum of the tires, I began thinking about next week, Holy Week.
To say that there is quite a bit involved in Holy Week would be a tad of an understatement. Although this morning, my mind was thinking about the operations piece of it. The three sacred days leading up to Easter, known as the Triduum, have services that are, in my opinion, the most beautiful and yet emotional of all our services. My mind was running through the logistics; do we have enough towels for foot washing, has the wooden cross been prepared for Friday, do we have enough volunteers for the prayer watch through the evening, we have to get the candles into their holders for the candlelight service, do we have the wood needed to start the fire for the Vigil, and so on… Yes, I was focused on the logistics, the operations piece of things.
As I usually do, I asked Father what message I could share today. What I heard was, “Be there and feel it”. Hmm…got it. I believe the message is, don’t worry about the pageantry of it all, as I said, they are some of the most beautiful services. I believe Father was saying, be in the moment of each service, feel what Jesus felt, remember the sacrifice, and honor it by living as He did. Love others as He loved and still loves us.
The operations side of things will come together as they always do. And…if something is missed, that’s ok, the important thing is to honor our Lord and the sacrifice He made for us. Thank you, Jesus, for giving your life for me. May I never take the gift you gave for granted.
Have a good day, friends.

Saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
