Palms and Perfection

We’re headed out this morning to ready our church for Palm Sunday services tomorrow. I have to admit, I love the way our church looks on this day. Don’t get me wrong, there is no denying the stunning beauty of Easter, all the lilies and spring flowers are amazing. However, the simplicity and meaningfulness of the palms have their own beauty. When you look around during the service, you can put yourself there when Jesus rode into Jerusalem.

We begin Holy Week with Palm Sunday. It’s the most solemn week of the year. We walk the journey with Jesus from the Last Supper, washing the feet of His disciples, the pain and grief of Good Friday, and the crucifixion, the feeling of loss on Holy Saturday, and then the pure joy knowing that He rose again on Easter Morning. This is a week of true quiet and reflection on the sacrifice He made for us, His children.

Friends, I hope you’ll take some time this week to be with Jesus. Read the accounts of this week in each of the Gospels. Give thanks for the sacrifice, accept His gift of unimaginable love, and return the gift by living the way He taught us. We are not perfect. He knows that. He’s not asking for perfection. He’s asking us to treat others as we would like to be treated.

Have a wonderful day, everyone. Thanks as always for your support of my little ramblings every day. I’m incredibly blessed by all of you 🙂 .

Matthew 21:8-9
Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
