BBIC

Tonight we had dinner at a summer gathering with other parishioners from our church. Each summer a few parishioners pick a month and plan a dinner at a local restaurant. Here in South FL in the off-season, we like to make our way to the restaurants where it’s easier to get in, few lines, more laid-back feel, and we can support these businesses during the downtime.

This is a time to get to know people who you might see every week but may never converse with. You learn about each other’s lives, hear stories about childhood memories, discover how you know similar friends, etc. It’s also an opportunity to grow in Christ. We discuss the opportunities we have at church, the ways we support each other in different ministries, and the way we love to help the community together.

I always come away from these gatherings feeling renewed. I feel the love that Christ gave us in each of these wonderful people. The genuine caring, the love of Christ, the belief that we are all his children and we are here to help each other and to serve Father.

This morning while listening to my daily morning bible study, our “navigator” suggested how we all should strive to “Be Better in Christ”. Wow, that resonated so strongly with me. Tonight I witnessed firsthand his children that want to “Be Better in Christ”.

The gifts that Father provides to us are so simple. Many times we overlook them. The gift of a friend, the gift of a song, the gift of a stranger who shares simple words to bring you back to Father. Make time each day to look for Father’s gifts. And…strive each day to BBIC – Be Better in Christ.

Lamentations: 22-24
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

  1. You are indeed His servant here on earth – doing God’s work with others, for others encouraging others along the path that God has laid before them. Thank you for sharing your insights of last evenings gathering. The ‘sharing of bread’ is not in actual bread alone – the “bread” is also the fellowship of His people brought together.
