Last night we celebrated our Denim and Diamonds event here in Scottsdale. One of the options we had when looking at decorating and theming this event, was having a live burro, carrying water for attendees. Well, this was a must of course. The team here at the hotel had told me when we were planning this event, “Oh yes, you’ll love Sophie, she’s so precious”.
Well, last night I met Sophie. She was much smaller than I thought she would be but she was indeed incredibly precious. She mozied on over to me and I couldn’t help but kneel down next to her. You could see in her eyes how loved she was. Her owner said he’d had her forever and she was his girl. As I scratched her neck Sophie laid her chin on my leg.
Everyone treated Sophie with such love last night and she reciprocated in her own little way. It was really amazing to see.
This morning as I was pondering about what to write, I couldn’t help but think of Sophie and this week. Sophie was so trusting and so sweet last night, and she just wanted to share herself. I know it sounds odd, but I could just sense it when next to her. This week has been filled with people helping people, people trusting people, people being vulnerable, and people caring for people. Kind of the way Sophie made me feel π
What this week has shown me, is regardless of how crazy this world has been over the past few years, people are still good. We care for each other, lift each other in prayer, cry together and laugh together and we love one another.
So as you start your weekend, I just ask that you not let the craziness of this world drive you to think that we, God’s children are separated. We aren’t we just need to make an effort to show each other ourselves, show our trust, show our caring and show our love. Be there for your neighbor, and your loved ones, and show them you care.
Thank you Sophie for your sweet soul. You showed me so much π
