Cupcake Flavors

Earlier this week a box arrived at our door. It was pink and the outside said “baked by Melissa”, and in large letters CUPCAKES. Um…well this sounds like fun I thought. Inside was a very nice thank you card from the friend who sent them. Also inside was, to my surprise, a flat square box, maybe no more than 2″ tall. It was brightly colored and you had to slide an insert out of the box, kind of like pulling a DVD from a collection. Anyway, just suffice to say, this was really cool packaging all sitting on top of those gel ice packs!

When I pulled out the insert, inside was this tightly wrapped tray of cupcakes. These little things were not at all what I expected. They are no more than the size of a quarter in diameter and maybe no more than an inch in height. Yep, you guessed it, you can pop these things in your mouth with ease 🙂

Then of course, right on top is the card showing pictures and names of the assorted 25 goodies. Yes, they are so small you can eat two and not feel guilty, LOL! Well, the flavors range from Red Velvet to Peanut Butter & Jelly, to Mint Cookie and Caramel Cake Batter just to name a few. Oh my goodness there is quite the assortment. Hubs and I have tried almost every flavor now, and many of them are not at all what you expect.

You’re never quite sure what to expect either when you get food like this that has been sent in via delivery. You know, when were they made, how long have they been sitting, etc. Um…these things are CRAZY good!!! They are very light, not overly sweet, frosting is yummy. Hungry yet? 🙂

I guess the point of this little post this morning, is things are not always what you expect. I mean, who makes little quarter-size cupcakes? When I saw that outer box that said cupcakes, I immediately thought “cupcakes”, regular size with those paper sides you have to peel off; nope, instead little gems you can just pop in your mouth and in my opinion, are even better.

Father has a way of bringing things, people, and situations into our lives that we are not expecting. Many times we form an opinion or judge a situation or a person on what we see outwardly. We don’t “open the box”. Well, we know better. We need to look past the packaging and understand the situation or the person. We are curious by nature, but sometimes it’s easier to not be curious, to just assume.

Well, today as you grab your coffee, and head off to work, I encourage you to be curious as people and situations come into your day. Ask questions, get to know someone, and understand the situation they are in. You might be surprised by what you learn.

Now, off to have one of those cinnamon bun cupcakes and some coffee 🙂
