Recovery

Over the past few days, I’ve learned a lot about the different “phases” of a natural disaster. Since Ian hit our Sunshine state we’ve been in the Response phase, which includes implementing disaster response plans, conducting search and rescue missions, taking actions to protect yourself, your family, your animals, and others, and so on.

During one of our Marco Patriots calls yesterday, I learned we are quickly transitioning into the Recovery phase. In this phase restoration efforts occur concurrently with regular operations and activities. This phase can be prolonged. We’re trying to prevent or reduce stress-related illnesses, we begin rebuilding damaged structures and we reduce vulnerability to future disasters. I’ve definitely seen these “happenings” around our communities these past days.

Father has been here through these initial phases in so many ways. As I’ve shared recently, the coming together of God’s children has been nothing short of amazing. Neighbor helping neighbor, individuals who don’t know each other, helping one another, businesses giving out food, people donating furniture and clothing, and this looooong list goes on and on.

As I write this little blog I can’t help but think about another form of recovery. Catastrophic events like this tend to make you think about relationships, those that are great and maybe those that aren’t the best. Events such as this open your eyes to what really matters, family, friends, and your relationship with Father. At the end of the day, when your life is done, will you be able to look back with no regrets?

So, friends, I encourage you to take a look at those relationships in your life. If there is something broken? Take some time to extend the olive branch and open a door. It may not make a difference, but at least you have tried. Also, what is your relationship with Father like? Has it been distant or solid? Don’t leave this life knowing there was an opportunity to mend a relationship.

Father wants his children to be together, just like any parent would. Thank you dear friends for your continued prayers and for your outpouring of love. Together we continue to heal, rebuild, and recover.

Jeremiah 33:6
Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.
