When we moved to Florida several years ago, like most, we had to go through the process of “downsizing”. You know, your kids get the first pick of items you no longer “need”. Then you start making piles to donate, garage sale, or pitch. Yep, we went through that process, but there was one item that we had to put into storage, we weren’t sure if we had room for it but we could not part with it.
My husband inherited his parent’s piano many years ago when they passed away. It sat proudly in their living room from the time I met my husband, and then eventually it made its way to our living room. There have been many memories made around this wonderful piece. Family gatherings, (Rally of the Clan we call them), dinner parties with friends, or watching our youngest take lessons, all these times have contributed to the bank of memories.
Well, after several years, our piano is being delivered to us today. I have to admit, I won’t be able to watch them bring it up the stairs in our condo, but I am looking forward to having it back in our living room. It’s like a little piece of home back in its place. I don’t play the piano, but it’s on my bucket list and I can’t think of a better time to learn.
As I think about the events of these past few weeks, I continue to thank Father for his many, many gifts. Gifts of small things like memories, or the piano we have back. Most importantly, I give thanks for family, friends, and the greatest gift, His Son.
Take some time this morning friends to remember the gifts in your life and to give thanks for each and every one of them 🙂
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
