Receiving

Over the past several weeks since Ian, you all know I’ve been lending a hand to coordinate volunteers. These volunteers have been simply amazing. People I don’t even know have gone out to the homes of people they don’t even know, to help them clean up and rebuild.

What I’ve also learned though is that there are very proud American’s out there, some who want to say, “No, we’re ok we don’t need any help” when in actuality they really could use it. I’ve come to understand that, and have discovered the simple ways to encourage them to let us lend a hand.

I’m seeing people accepting help, from those eagerly offering it, building friendships, and rebuilding their lives. In the end, our communities here are growing stronger and closer, which is what Father wants.

I guess the message from this little blog this morning is, to be graceful in receiving help. So many of us want to give and do, we must be understanding when help is offered. Together, we, God’s children will overcome and will move on to a new day.

Father, please help your children to give and to receive with you in their hearts. Help us to be reflections of you in all that we do, and help us Father to always be mindful of the needs of others. Amen.

Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
