Have you ever noticed when you have a gathering, whether it’s family or friends or a combination of the two, everyone migrates to the kitchen? Even if you have a welcoming space in your family room or dining room, everyone still huddles in the kitchen. In the past, we’ve intentionally put snacks in other rooms or set up a grouping of chairs just so people will feel like sitting together elsewhere, only occasionally will those seats ever get used, nope the kitchen is prime space I guess.
The kitchen is the place where the magic happens in your home. It’s where you prepare meals, enjoy your first cup of coffee in the morning, it’s where you have important discussions, or where your kids work on school projects. The memories made in this simple room are priceless in my opinion.
Last night while making dinner, I looked around our kitchen and noticed how it’s decorated. It’s a comfortable loving place that is filled with memories and reminders of family and friends. It will never make the cover of Better Homes and Gardens, no our kitchen is lived-in and homey, filled with things like the picture our youngest gave us when we bought our place in Florida, my mother-in-law’s ceramic mixing bowls, the decorative plates made by friends (I shared the story of those in this little blog several months ago), and pictures that share sayings about this space. Father is in this space, in the midst of all the love that resides here.
As you start your week and enjoy your first cup of coffee, reflect back on the memories you’ve made in your kitchen. I hope those memories bring you joy, and as the Holidays approach, I hope you take the time to make even more.
Have a great day friends!
1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
