A Special Sunday Prayer

Lately it seems so many people I know are struggling with health issues or concerns. Recently a friend found out her father is suffering from an illness. They are waiting on test results but it’s scary. Another friend is recovering from chemo treatments and surgery from cancer, a neighbor has just been placed in hospice.

These times are difficult for us, we feel helpless and if you’re like me you want to DO something. I’m a fixer, and it’s tough for me to accept that I can’t fix these situations. But, what I can do is be there for them, I can listen when they want to share feelings or to cry, or to vent anger at why this may be happening. I can offer to make meals, or run errands. Most importantly, I can pray to Father to heal them, and if that is not his will, I can prayer for Him to comfort them and relieve their pain and fear.

On this Sunday morning, I hope you’ll take a moment to say a prayer of healing with me for all of God’s children who are suffering from a disease or illness. Father hears each of our prayers, but together, maybe just maybe, they’ll be a little louder this morning.

O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: We humbly beseech thee to behold, visit and relieve thy sick servants for whom our prayers are desired. Look upon them with the eyes of thy mercy; comfort them with a sense of thy goodness; preserve them from the temptations of the enemy; and give them patience under their affliction. In thy good time, restore them to health, and enable them to lead the residue of their life in thy fear, and to thy glory; and grant that finally they may dwell with thee in life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I continue to lift you in prayers each day my friends. Know that you are not alone in this world and don’t hesitate to reach out for support. And…if you know someone who is struggling, I encourage you to pray for them and offer to do even the littlest of things, you don’t know how much it may help 🙂

Father, I thank you today for this wonderful community.
