No Gifts This Year – Well Maybe Just One

We’re closing in on Christmas and if you’re like me you are probably not even close to ready. Our annual writing of cards is not complete, finalizing ideas for Christmas day snacks not done, oh and getting needed gifts, ya that’s not complete yet either. Stress, stress, stress…sound familiar?

Over the past few days, I’ve been talking with friends and we’ve agreed to no presents this year. None of us really NEED anything, and we all have so much going on between work and the Holidays that the added stress of finding a nice gift isn’t needed. So, no gifts this year.

Actually, while on the phone with a friend yesterday she said to me, the only gift I want is prayers for my dad, (who is dealing with some health issues right now). So, this got me thinking, one of the only gifts we need this year, (besides the gift of Father), is prayer. If we all gave the gift of praying for each other, wouldn’t that be enough? We could pray for healing of illness, healing of broken relationships, prayers for the homeless or those in financial hardship, prayers for our military in harm’s way, prayers for our veterans, prayers that our children are safe, and so many other prayers we could lift.

Yes, perhaps one gift this year, I’ll be saying prayers for my dear friends and so many in need. The prayer below might be a good start.

Heavenly Father, please be with your children as we remember the gift of your Son. For those with illness, please Father, heal their bodies. For those who are lost, please light their path. For those who are alone, may you open their hearts to know you, who is always with them. Father please be with our military and first responders, those in harm’s way, and keep them safe as they protect this nation and her people. Father, please help us to love one another as you have loved us, and help us to have you always in our hearts. May we share your light and love in all that we do. This gift of prayer dear Father I ask in your precious name. Amen

Have a wonderful day friends, I encourage you to share the gift of prayer today 🙂 .

  2. Greatest post yet even though they are always good! Loving our idea of no gifts this year as just being together, family who can come and calls from those who can’t, and prayers for each other!  Amen!  Loved  seeing you and Bob last week with Tija!
