Slow Down to Speed Up

Yesterday morning after our work out our coach was leading us through some stretching exercises. As we began that process he said something that has stuck with me, he said, “Sometimes we have to slow down to speed up. Sometimes when you are training you have to drop down in weight to care for your muscles and allow them to heal and ultimately grow stronger”.

I’ve been thinking about what he said and I can’t help but put what he said into the context of life in general. We find ourselves exhausted some days, maybe more often than not these days. We’re running in many directions, juggling many priorities between work, family, friends, and many times relationships take a back seat. For me, unfortunately, there are times when my relationship with Father takes that back seat as I rush through the crazy days. Of course, he should always have the front seat, not the back seat 🙂 .

As you make your way through this Christmas week, I encourage you to slow down, let your body rest a bit, let your mind take a break and allow yourself to grow stronger in that slowing down. Find some moments each day this week to step away and be by yourself. Make some extra time to talk with God. Share your thoughts, fears and joys with him, allow him to strengthen you.

Celebrate the simple joy this season brings, knowing we’ve been given the greatest gift we will ever receive.

Just a short little blog today friends to encourage you to make time for what is important. Have a great day 🙂 .

Matthew 1:23
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
