The North Star

As I start this little blog this morning, I’d like to say THANK YOU to all of you who lifted prayers for us yesterday. They were felt and they made such a difference, thank you so much for your prayers and your kind words. God has guided us to continue to follow that North Star and be with the family at Christmas. We’re taking it slow with the weather and will wait for things to settle down for sure. But, I can tell you that the sunrise sure is beautiful this morning 🙂 . Everyone be safe and warm over the next few days!

So last night after we stopped we had some dinner at a local restaurant. It was nice to relax a bit and discuss our travel route, side note if anyone has a secret route around the beautiful mountains of Chattanooga, please share 🙂 . I love these mountains, but not in the dead of winter when driving through them! Sorry, I digress yet again… Anyway, we were enjoying dinner when a table of young adults, I’m guessing in their mid 20’s was seated next to us. There were three couples, and it looked like one of the women was just being introduced as a new girlfriend to the group. It was a Christmas friend gathering I heard them say to their server. They were very “smartly” dressed as my mother-in-law would have said, and were smiling and chatting and even exchanging some gifts. It’s Christmas I thought to myself.

As my husband and I were finishing dinner I glanced over at the table, then did a double take. I looked again to see this entire table of young adults had their heads bowed and one of the gentlemen was leading the table in a short prayer. My husband and I looked at each other and smiled, it felt so good to see this young group saying a prayer before dinner. In so many ways I feel like our youth are moving further away from Father each day. They have so many challenges and things forced on them, video games, social media, and even streaming series that present so many ugly scenes. To see this group of young people hold on to and actively show their faith was a blessing last night. It was I think, another sign from Father that we are headed in the right direction, a sign to not give up on him, a sign to keep looking for that North Star.

Christmas is such a gift of hope. We just need to continue to ground our faith and strength in Father and continue to show his love every day.

Have a very Merry Christmas my friends. I’m going to take a few days off from the little blog to enjoy our family time. I’ll be back after Christmas to share my silly musings 🙂 . I wish you all much love and can’t thank you enough for your support, and thank Father for the gift of all of you.

Isiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
