Yes, today is the last day of Christmas vacation; honestly, I’m bummed. While I’ve worked some over the holiday I have enjoyed the more laid-back feeling. As we’re out and about, people are “jolly”, kids are playing, and everyone seems more at ease.
Tomorrow we’re back to work, and later this week most kids are back to school, and we all know what that means. Schedules start filling up, the craziness of our days begins and before we know it, we’ll be stressed and trying to fit everything into the day. So ya, as I thought about today’s little blog, I started to feel bummed.
But…I have to remind myself, we have to remind ourselves, this a the start of a new year. This is a new beginning and an opportunity to make changes. I’m not big on resolutions because I think they can be a setup to fail. Instead, I like to think of opportunities to make changes for the better. So, let’s start out small, maybe something like, I will schedule myself for a lunch break AND will take it every day. If the weather cooperates, I’ll even step outside the office and take a walk. Or, we’re going to commit as a family to have at least two meals at home together a week, without cell phones near the table. There are small things we can do to make changes to help us make every day more like Christmas vacation. Now, I realize I am probably the last person to be offering this advice as I’m a workaholic, (it’s a symptom of working from home), but I’m going to try for sure to make changes.
I’ve said it many times, this life is so short and we have limited time here to do what Father has asked of us. He wants us to live this life to the fullest, not to be stressed every day trying to fit things into a schedule that we ourselves have set. Spend quality time with your children, parents, dear friends, and neighbors. Take time to help someone, share your talents, learn something new, and make sure that God is at the center of your work. Show his love in your actions, and let those actions spread.
Let’s help each other make 2023 a little more like Christmas vacation, and when we come to the end of the year, let’s look back and be pleased with what we’ve done. I’ll be looking to you all to help me stay on track this year friends, and I look forward to what the year will bring. Have a great day friends, and cheers to the new year 🙂 .
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
