Some days when I sit down to write this little blog, I have to admit, I got nothing. I totally have no idea what to write about. Other days I have so many ideas I don’t know where to begin. I guess if I was executing this whole blog thing like I should, I’d have them planned out weeks in advance on a calendar. Well, that’s not how I envisioned this little blog and quite honestly I think it would change the feel of it, so I’ll stick with what I like 🙂 .

Anyway, this morning, yep I sat down with not a clue what to share. I closed my eyes and just asked, “Father help me, what message can I share today, I’m just totally drawing a blank”. I simply heard, “and…go share”.

You see, there are many times in our lives when we draw a blank, meaning we simply don’t know what to do. We have life-changing events that occur, maybe we receive an unfavorable medical diagnosis, a job situation changes, a vehicle breaks down, etc. We stress about what to do, and how to fix the situation, totally forgetting to simply stop for a moment, close our eyes and spend time asking Father to help us, to guide us, and to show us a path. I know in my own life I skip right over the step of spending time in prayer to ask God for guidance. Like I’ve shared before, I’m a fixer, so I get in and try to fix when what I should be doing is asking God to show me how I can best help, how I can lend support, or what I should do.

I can’t help but think that there are times when God just shakes his head and thinks, “There they go again, trying to do it all on their own”. If you’re a parent, you’ve probably thought the same thing about your kid’s actions at one time or another right? Well, today is a good day to remember that we are not alone and that Father wants us to spend time with him, he wants us to share with him and he wants to be a part of our daily lives.

So today, if you’re drawing a blank and not sure what to do, or better yet even if you aren’t, simply stop, close your eyes and spend a little time with God. Let him know your concerns, your fears, AND your joys, share it all with him, and then, listen.
