In Time

I was talking to a friend the other day and we were discussing God’s timing. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand why things happen or don’t happen in this life. We pray for clarity or we pray for assistance, we pray for God to show us the way. But we don’t always get answers, or at least if we do get them we don’t know they are the answers, or worse yet, we don’t like the answers we get.

Last night I was having a dream, I don’t even recall what the dream was about really. But what I do recall, because it woke me up, I recall hearing the name Elizabeth very loudly. I lay awake for quite some time trying to understand why that name was so clear. I thought about my niece Elisabeth who I know is ok. Then I thought about Elizabeth from the bible, she was John the Baptist’s mother. Why was Father giving me her name in my dream last night?

Well, I do what I always do, I did some deeper research this morning and friends let me show you what I found. Yes, I know Elizabeth was the wife of Zechariah, and I know she had John late in life, and I also know John “leaped for joy” in her womb when the pregnant Mary visited Elizabeth. I do know all of that history.

However, I read this paragraph while researching this morning:
Question for Reflection
As an aging woman, Elizabeth’s childlessness might have been a source of shame and adversity for her in a society like Israel where a woman’s worth was closely linked to her ability to bear children. But Elizabeth remained faithful to God, knowing the Lord remembers those who are loyal to him. God was in control of Elizabeth’s destiny as John the Baptist’s mother. Are you able to trust God with the circumstances and timing of your life?

Well, now I get it. Back to the first paragraph of today’s little blog, wondering about God’s timing. Father seems to always have a way to let us know what he’s doing if we are willing to listen.

So, I’ll just suggest, if you are going through something in this life if you are asking questions, wondering what to do, wondering why things aren’t happening, give it to God, and trust. Keep asking him to guide you along the path, and trust. Keep abiding in him, and yes, trust. He is with us my friends and He is the one in control. Lord, help us all to be more like Elizabeth.

Have a great day my friends 🙂 .

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
