A Day of Rest

It sounds like an interesting concept right. Taking a day to rest I mean. So many of us are running in every direction throughout the week. Between work, kids and their activities, and commitments to church and other organizations, we are exhausted by the time the weekend rolls around. Then of course you have those activities, kids’ ball games, and charity events and don’t forget about the little things like cleaning your house, taking care of the car, and the list goes on.

Well my friends, today, Sunday is the day that Father asks us to spend time with Him and rest. Remember, he created everything in six days, and on the seventh, he rested. That’s what today is, a day of rest.

Sundays are pretty routine for my husband and me. After church we go to breakfast, we have our favorite spots, and once home it’s a pretty laid-back day. Yes, I’ve been known to get a nap in on Sundays for sure, (don’t judge until you’ve tried it). If the weather is nice, I’ll find a spot at the pool for a bit and catch up with the neighbors. Sundays are a day for trying new recipes and filling the house with smells too. Through all of this, I try to spend time talking with God as well. It’s funny how these times with Him feel different, I guess it’s because I’m more relaxed.

We all need time to rest and recharge. Our bodies and our minds don’t function well when we go non-stop without a break. We get sick, we feel stressed, our mood changes, you know the drill. It’s up to us to make the commitment to ourselves and to Father quite frankly, that we will give ourselves the time to rest and the time to be with Him.

We all have calendars we keep, whether online or in paper form, it’s time to start marking out Sunday as a day of rest and be with the one who loves us most. I know it sounds easy, but, it truly is about priorities. What is truly important in this little thing we call life. Only we can decide. I know what I choose.

Have a great day my friends, and take some time to relax today 🙂 .

Exodus 20:11
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Good advice Kim! Refreshing our minds and body and being still in the moment is never easy for high energies like us!
