Well, now there is an interesting title for this little blog today. No, I’m not suggesting you all leave and stop reading my daily musing, but I do have another idea for you.
As you all know, I work from home, I have for almost ten years now, long before it was “a thing”. If you have ever worked from home, which many have over the last few years, you know that it can be difficult for many reasons. I’ve never had the problem of wanting to do too many things around the house, or of getting distracted with chores during work hours, no quite the opposite. Usually, I find that I’m at my desk way more than when I worked in an office building. It’s not uncommon to spend 12 hours a day in my home office during the week. Before you know it the clock has gone from lunchtime to way past dinner and you’re not sure where your afternoon has gone? Also, working from home, your scenery doesn’t change much. In an office, you can get up and see people, have discussions with others, stretch your legs, have a meeting in the conference room, etc. Not so much when you have a single office at your home. Let’s just say it’s easy to find yourself in a rut when you work from your humble abode ๐ .
So, contrary to some popular belief, while working from home does have its pluses, it comes with some minuses for certain. But…regardless of where you work, whether in an office building, a retail outlet, a hospital, or some other establishment, it is so important to take a moment and step away. Hence the title of today’s little blog, it’s important to get out.
I’ve been trying to take about 15-20 minutes in my afternoon to step away from my desk. It has certainly helped to have a small side gig of walking my buddy Toby, (my furbaby friend). Yesterday afternoon for instance, while Toby and I were making the lap around the neighborhood I found myself having a conversation with Father. It was casual and I just thanked him for a beautiful afternoon. The weather was gorgeous and it felt wonderful to be in the fresh air, enjoy a little sunshine, and clear my head. It truly is amazing how just 15 minutes outside can change a perspective and help you feel refreshed.
No matter where you work, go to school, or even if you are retired, I encourage you to make time in your day to ‘get out’. Spend a little time in the open air, enjoying the gifts and creation that God has provided. Treat yourself to a break in the day and you will be surprised at how good you feel when you get back to your “workspace”, wherever that may be.
Have a great day my friends ๐ .

Ah, Lordย God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
