We had dinner with some great friends last night. This small group of friends has gotten together several times over the past year. We tend to go to places we’ve never been, and last night was no different. While at dinner though we were chatting about some of the past places we’d been to and discussing the various foods we had tried. One of the places is a small Vietnamese cafe called Saigon to Paris. Not only do they have great Vietnamese food, but they have a great bakery and some amazing pastries and French baguettes.

Last night I mentioned to my husband that we should head over to the cafe this morning and grab a pastry and some coffee. I love mornings like this when we both take a break and stop and smell the coffee as you might say. I’ve mentioned it before, Saturday mornings are a little slower for us after our busy weeks. This morning is gorgeous here in SW Florida and I am truly looking forward to just a little time to enjoy some coffee and a pastry and catch up with my better half.

You know, there are so many simple things in life that can bring us such joy. Taking a camping trip with friends, enjoying time on a farm during planting season, planting new flowers in your decorative pots as spring dawns, sitting on the back deck as the sun rises, enjoying your child’s baseball game, all just simple things. Father brings little moments into our lives to help us see not only the beauty around us but the simple gifts we have right in front of us.

So today friends, stop and smell the coffee, and maybe a pastry too! Enjoy the simple gifts that God has provided, hug your kids and your parents, smell the flowers, enjoy the sunrise – or sunset, rub your dog’s belly, scratch your cat’s head, call a friend or, just enjoy a little time with Father. Whatever you are doing today, remember that He is always with us. Have an awesome day!
