Field Trip Friends

Last year during Hurricane, and the days that followed, I shared with you all how a group of amazing people came to know each other as we worked to help survivors of the storm. We are part of a wonderful organization, the Marco Patriots. I’ve shared much about this group in the past and all the wonderful things they do all around the country. Well, after Ian, we found ourselves helping our own communities, much like they did when the group was formed following Hurricane Irma in 2017.

The Marco Patriots Social Media team worked tirelessly, like so many did, after Ian, to keep information flowing to the communities not only here in SW FL, but to family and friends across the country who couldn’t be here. This small group of amazing souls came to know each other, virtually at first. Then over time we’ve come together in person to spend time together, or we find each other at restaurants, at the beach, etc.

We communicate daily as you can imagine, we share fun stories, provide support to each other, encourage each other, pray together, and grow together as friends. Well, today we have a field trip planned and I’m like a little kid waking up on the morning we leave for vacation. I’m so excited to spend some time with these ladies and to give some much-needed hugs.

We’re visiting some local businesses, and no believe it or not we are not bar hopping πŸ™‚ . We’re headed to a local citrus grove, then to a wonderful farm that just opened, and then off to the Picayune forest to see some incredible wildlife! So many wonderful things to do here outdoors, and I’m looking forward to visiting Picayune for the first time.

Wherever we go, I know there will be laughs and hugs, stories, and more importantly memories made. I’m blessed to call this group my friends. Father brings his children together in many different ways, and this go around it was a once in a 200-year storm. Through the destruction of Ian, He brought us together to share His love through our efforts to help others.

Thank you Father for the gifts you provide, for guiding us on this path through life, and for bringing your children together.

Have a wonderful day my friends, may yours be filled with the love of family and friends today πŸ™‚ .

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
