Old Home Week

So as I’ve mentioned, our granddaughter is graduating this weekend. We’ve made the trip back home to celebrate with her. Of course, when you make trips like this you plan things out to meet up with friends and family.

It will indeed be an old home week, well at least a few days anyway. We’ve got things planned like dinner at our favorite pizza place of all time, (which we enjoyed last night), stopping in to see our daughter’s law office, breakfast with friends, and…I can’t wait, I’m sneaking in to work out with my favorite fitness ladies this morning!

I wrote about my Chix friends in a blog several months ago. I absolutely love this group of friends. Over the years we’ve been there to support each other in our fitness goals, but more importantly, we’ve lifted each other through life’s challenges, celebrated our joys, and have grown together in Christ. I’m so excited to see these peeps!

As we drove in from Indianapolis yesterday, my husband and I commented on the landscape’s beauty. The fields had been recently tilled and planted, the trees were flush with green leaves and the grass is as green as can be across the horizon. One thing about the prairie of Central Illinois, you can see for miles on days like yesterday. The memories came to mind and I thought about the many things I miss about this place we called home for most of our lives.

We’re so looking forward to the next few days. The celebration, the catching up, sharing of more memories and the love to be shared. Ya, it will be an old home week, or a few days anyway, and Father has blessed us with this time.

Life sometimes takes us away from the place we called home. But, that place, will always be home. The love of family and friends in this place will always be first in our lives. Old home week, yes it will be special and I thank God for giving us this time to reconnect with family and friends.

Happy Friday my friends, may your day be as special as ours will be 🙂 .

Colossians 3:14
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
