Happy Birthday Dad

Yes, Happy Birthday to you Dad. You aren’t physically here in this world, but not a day goes by that I don’t think about you and wish you were here.

My dad was kind of so/so about birthdays. I always got the impression he could take ’em or leave ’em πŸ™‚ . He wasn’t much of a big celebration guy. Oh don’t get me wrong, we’d go to dinner, and there would be some kind of dessert, but at the end of the day, he was fine sitting at home on his lanai. I don’t know, maybe it was from all his time in the hospitality business, taking care of customers and clients and being on the other side of celebrations, that made him thankful for quiet time with fewer people after he retired.

I can’t help but wonder if he’s celebrating today in heaven. Perhaps something simple, one day I’ll find out I know. For today though, I just remember the times together Dad, and I celebrate you. Happy Birthday, Dad.

Exodus 20:12
Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
