Best Friends

How many times do we find ourselves wondering where the time has gone? There is such truth to that saying, “The older you get the faster time flies”. I can’t believe another year has ticked away and my husband and I are celebrating another year together. Thirty-six years ago we said our “I Do’s”, in a very simple ceremony, and then had a great “reception” with friends at a local restaurant. I guess there is something to be said about simple weddings, we’re still together after 36 years. I’ve seen some pretty glamorous weddings that unfortunately resulted in couples splitting just after a few years 😦 . Well, that’s for another little blog.

If you’ve been married for any length of time, you know that it is not for the faint of heart. It takes work and a lot of it. However, like most things, when you invest the time, put your heart and soul into it, nurture it, feed it, and love it, the relationship will be everlasting. There will be days that are difficult and it will feel like it’s taking everything you have to get through it, and some days it will. However, I know, if you have Father in the center of all that you do, in the center of your relationship, He will pull you through the difficult times, and He will show you why you are together.

The reward is so worth the work that you put in. Over the years we have truly become best friends. We pretty much do everything together, and we pretty much know what each other is going to say before we say it. The gifts that Father has given us are too numerous to count, starting with our beautiful children and grandchildren. The love He has instilled in us is immeasurable. We are truly blessed.

Someone recently told us they were jealous of the relationship that my husband and I share. We were a little perplexed by that. The person said, “You genuinely are happy together, you do things together and you like being together”. Now we were even more perplexed. If you have committed your life to someone, I’m thinking it’s a good thing to genuinely be happy together πŸ™‚ . And, I am blessed to be that, genuinely happy and very much in love with the man I married.

Happy Anniversary Bob, and thank you Father for always being with us and bringing us through another year together.

Have a great day my friends πŸ™‚ .

Ephesians 5:31
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall be come one flesh.
