Steak and Cars

Last night my husband and I grabbed dinner at a local steakhouse. It’s a small casual place that has been in business here for 30 years. We love it because the service is wonderful, it’s a small comfy place, and of course, the food is like crazy good!

We didn’t have a reservation last night, but it’s still not “season” yet here in SW Florida so we were pretty comfortable just driving over to get a table. We were able to get right in and be seated. We were at a table with a long booth that ran the length of the back wall on one side, and then chairs on the other side of the table. So actually there were two tables next to each other that shared that same booth on the back wall. Lots of descriptives there but you get the idea.

Not long after we arrived the host seated a couple of gentlemen next to us. I noticed the first was wearing a Shelby t-shirt and a Shelby America hat. It caught my eye because my husband owns a Shelby Mustang. He’s been a Mustang guy since he was in high school. As the gentlemen took their seats we could also see that the second was wearing a polo shirt with the emblem of the local Ford dealer. Ahhh, now we got it. We could tell they were father and son, the son being the salesman from the dealership, the dad wearing the Shelby attire 🙂 .

It didn’t take long as you can imagine for conversation to kick in between us, my husband sharing stories of past cars, and us learning that the Shelby the father owned was the truck, not the Mustang. We enjoyed some laughter and discussed the status of car orders and what was coming out in the future. It was just a great conversation with some strangers. Before they left, the dad gave us his son’s card at the dealership and said, “Give John Paul a call, he will take care of you. Oh, and let me show you what sits in my driveway for my wife to complain about”. He showed us a picture of his not one, but two Shelby pickup trucks. Not bad for a retired guy I’d say.

Friends, what I realized this morning as I sat down to write this little blog is that Father just keeps bringing us together. He keeps opening doors for us to meet people, share a little of ourselves, and build bridges with people you don’t know from Adam. He is giving us opportunities to show kindness and caring and to show His love in simple little actions. Let’s keep looking for those opportunities and build those bridges, give of ourselves, help where we can, and always show Fathers love in what we do.

Have an awesome Saturday my friends 🙂 .
