When Father Calls – Don’t Let it Go to Voicemail

Over the year or so since I’ve begun writing this little blog I’ve found myself coming here to share my thoughts, experiences, challenges, you know whatever I might be thinking. What started out as a way to show God’s love through simple sunrise and sunset photos, has grown into a way for me to connect with so many about how I see Father working in so many wonderful ways.

I come here each morning and just share my thoughts about everything from walking a friend’s dog, making sourdough bread, or living through the devastation of Hurricane Ian. I’ve come here to ask for prayers for friends, and you always respond. So many of you have reached out to me via text, or phone call, or you send a beautiful hand-written note to say thank you for this little blog. Many of you have shared that this little blog has changed your life. I’m incredibly humbled by those words. That’s not me, that is Father working through this little blog to touch your life.

So this morning as I sit and write this little blog, I can’t think of any better place to share what’s next than with those of you that I trust the most. You see my friends, when Father calls, it’s best to answer and not let it go to voicemail 🙂 . Well, he has done just that, I feel He has called me to do something different.

I’ve spent the last almost 40 years working in the dental industry. An industry where I’ve met some of the most wonderful people. For the last almost 11 years I’ve had the privilege of serving some amazing dental professionals in my role as the Executive Director for the American Association of Dental Office Management, (AADOM). I’ve been blessed to work with an incredible team that is devoted to serving our members and our sponsoring companies. Yes, I have been blessed beyond words. I have learned and grown in ways I never dreamed of. I’ve met individuals who literally change lives because of the work they do.

Well, recently, Father has been lighting a different path for me, one that I feel I must now walk. Father is showing me it’s time to leave the dental industry and AADOM. I’m moving on to serve as the Parish Administrator for the Church I’ve come to love so much here in SW Florida. God is calling me to a different kind of service. Yes, when Father calls, don’t let it go to voicemail.

To the AADOM team I’ve worked with for over 10 years I say THANK YOU. Thank you for your commitment, your passion, and your desire to help the members and sponsors we serve. Thank you for being there for me and finding the ways to always do what we needed to do. To the speakers and consultants who were always there to help when I asked, THANK YOU. To our conference team, you are simply the best, words cannot express the thanks I have for you all. To a few mentors, (you know who you are), I never would have made it in this industry without your incredible support, THANK YOU. To our members, so many of you have become trusted friends. You were there and would ask how you could help, you stepped up when needed, and you readily asked what you could do, THANK YOU. I’ve always said that it’s difficult to replicate what AADOM is because we didn’t build AADOM, our members did. You all built this community, you are simply inspiring. Keep doing what you are doing. You are making a difference in the lives you touch each and every day. Thank you again to all my dental friends, you helped me to grow and be successful in so many ways. I’m honored to call you friends, and I look forward to watching how you all continue to make a difference.

Today is a day filled with many emotions, however, I know what Father is calling me to do. I’m answering the call and walking the path He has cleared for me. Take care my friends, and know that you are all in my prayers each and every day. And…when Father calls, don’t let it go to voicemail 🙂 .

1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

  1. You will be missed!! I’m late to the party because I didn’t know you had a blog… but you can bet I’ll be reading every post over the weekend 😊 Thanks for all you do…. Yes we all built this, but YOU, Kim are what we aspire to be! Thanks for always being kind and for always making us smile. 2. Kim, I had only one encounter with you at AADOM 23. It was my first conference and I chose to go outside my box with public speaking and being a room host. I was given Chad Hymes to introduce. You spoke to me as we’d known each other for years. I cried for fear and nervousness. Thank you for taking care of me. You didn’t make me feel like a number. Best of luck with your new chapter. Misty.

  4. Kim, as Teresa would say, “You’ve left the ladder down” for so many. It seems God has called you set the ladder up to heaven. I have no doubt our Lord will use your talents in a way that leads others to Him and Glorifies Him. You will be missed, Kim. Thank you for the years of coordination and caring with AADOM!

  5. Kim,
You have truly been an inspiration to me. AADOM will not be the same without you. You are a like a beam of light from a lighthouse, constantly shining bright. Your church is blessed to have you. You will definitely be missed, but doing the work you are called to by the Father is such a higher calling.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Continue to do great thing in the name of the Father!

    Love,

  6. I LOVE your blog!!! An entirely different side of you that now makes complete sense and shows the whole you. You have served and given so much of yourself and set the bar really high for those that follow you. Your efficiency and humor will be greatly missed. I didn’t realize it until now but you were setting an example for all of us and I thank you for that. I’m still having a hard time picturing a conference without you….you could make a guest appearance and get refilled 😁.

This is the first time I have read your blog….it’s amazing. I love the title, I have found in life it’s sometimes easy to ask for confirmation…”God is this really you?” and when He confirms, I’m always amazed…why is that?? I pray God richly blesses you as you follow where He is leading you.
