I’ve never been much of a fan of Halloween, even when I was a kid it wasn’t a favorite. I really began to dislike it when the costumes got to be so gory and creepy, nah it’s not for me. But I think more than the over-the-top scary movie-type costumes, it’s the whole dressing up to be something or somebody else.

I remember a Halloween years ago, the GM of our company dressed up as dracula. I have to tell you, he was so real, it was actually scary. I mean it was a disturbing kind of scary. He had the whole place on edge as he moved around the building that day. Still creepy to think about. I would have preferred having our GM be our GM that day, the real thing was much better than dracula…

A friend of mine, an awesome photographer has a whole line of artwork he’s delving into. It’s created using AI technology. While the images are so realistic and beautiful, they aren’t his photographs. He posted some of his photos yesterday from a trip he and his other half have taken over the past few days. In his true style, they are so amazing. He captures such incredible pictures, and has an eye for “the perfect shot”. He has been blessed with such a gift. Yes, I’ll take the real thing over his AI work any day.

Today I can’t help but think about Jesus going through his 40 days of what we now recognize as Lent, when He was tempted by satan. Satan promised him everything if Jesus would just follow him. Our Lord rejected satan at every turn and stayed true to His Father. Yes, I’ll take the real thing, our Father over anything that satan can offer.

So friends, on this day, and every day, be true to the real things. We are all wonderful gifts from God. Let’s share the talents and the love He has blessed us with.
