Staying Connected

Last night while my husband and I were cooking dinner my phone rang. It was our granddaughter and when I answered I put it on speakerphone so we could both chat with her. She was calling to let us know she had just found out she was selected for a new part-time job she had applied for at an after-school program πŸ™‚ . After congratulating her we spent a little time just catching up in general. We got the update on her school activities, and family happenings, and played a little remember when as well. Then the all-important conversation, birthday (for her is coming up in a little over a week), and Christmas lists we needed!

A little while later my phone rang again, it was our oldest. We had a similar conversation, getting caught up on our grandson’s latest activities, he’s a senior in high school this year, (oy where did that time go). We talked about Christmas lists as well, and she asked more about the Wreaths Across America weekend coming up next month, as she’s heavily involved in the local American Legion organization. It was a great conversation and one that was long overdue.

I realized this morning as I thought about those two phone calls, we need to stay more connected. Perhaps setting a time to chat each week, if not every day. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day activities of work, school, volunteer commitments, social life, etc., that we lose track of the days and weeks! Time to make time for what is so important in this life, our family.

I talk every day about our connection with Father, which of course comes first in everything, however, our connection with family, ya, it’s kind of a big deal. I guess at the end of the day it comes down to priorities, doesn’t it? A little shift in those and before you know it, family has floated to the top of the list where they belong πŸ™‚ .

So my friends, if you are like me and have let the priorities get a little out of whack, let’s work to get them back in line. Father first, then family, friends, and the rest will fall into place. Let’s stay connected to the most important things in our lives.

Have a great day my friends πŸ™‚ .

1 Corinthians 8:6
Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.

  1. Thank you Kim. This Bible verse would make for a great Bible Study….or even a discussion over dinner???
