Look at Me

These last few days I’ve had the opportunity to see some pretty simple but beautiful things. This morning as I was thinking about this little blog and what to share I started recalling these moments. Father just so easily puts things in our path to make us see Him more clearly, and so often we just miss them. We’re all so focused on our busy lives that we are failing to see what’s right in front of us.

Here’s what I mean. Earlier this week I rode my bike in the morning instead of going to the gym. I needed to get to work earlier and jumping on my bike for the 6-mile ride is faster than braving the traffic to and from the gym 🙂 . I listen to a podcast as I ride, and as you can guess I’m pretty focused on the road to be safe. I’m fortunate that a good part of my ride is through a much less busy area and early in the morning very little traffic. Riding at that time of the morning the sky is still dark, but over the last minutes of the ride, the sun begins its rising. That particular morning I just happened to glance up to see a beautiful pink sky, (the cover of today’s little blog). I pulled over to snap a picture and to just say, “Thank you, Father”. Now I do have to say, I almost didn’t stop. I mean I have tons of sunrise pictures, and this one wasn’t even the best that I’d seen. However, it was a gift, and I believe it was God saying, “Look at me”.

That same day at work, one of the clergy in the office forwarded an email to me. We had asked parishioners to share their photos from Easter, and someone had sent a picture to him. I opened the email and read the note that basically said, “Here’s a picture of our sweet Susie”. As soon as I scrolled down and saw the picture, a rush of happiness filled me. The picture showed a little blonde-haired girl, about three years old, squatting down in front of the flower cross we have every year. She was gently touching the flowers but almost looked like she was praying. She was in her beautiful Easter dress and the picture was literally just stunning. It was so simple, but the message jumped out of the image. Father’s most precious gift, a child, kneeling at the cross. Again, I could hear Him say, “Look at me.”

Friends, as we begin this new day, let’s make a point of looking around. Make a point to find Father in the moment. He’s there, and I think He’s saying, “Look at me.” There is such incredible beauty in our lives, it’s worth the time to recognize it, and when we do, give a little thanks.

Have an awesome day everyone 🙂 .

1 Corinthians 8:6
Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
