Break Away

Do you ever find yourself just questioning what to do next? Well, that is a pretty open-ended question I know. I guess there are times when we all wonder if what we are doing at a particular time is what we should be doing. Should I do housework or should I go to the pool? Should I volunteer for that committee or should I pass? Should I go work out or just hit snooze on the alarm, you get the idea.

I have had a couple of situations recently where I’ve been asking Father to show me the path through. I keep questioning myself and coming back to Father for guidance. This morning as I sat and chatted with Him, I heard these words, “Break away and come to Me”. I have to admit, I’m not quite sure what that means at this point. My gut is telling me He wants me to stop questioning and to just be with Him for a bit and let it all settle.

I’m a doer. It drives my husband crazy sometimes because I just want to do and get the task at hand behind me. Sometimes that’s a good thing, sometimes, not so much. So, when I have situations or challenges arise, I want to make my way through them and move on. Well, Father doesn’t work on my timeline, He works on His own. The doer in me is like, “Can you just toss me a sign here Father so I can move on?”.

Then moments happen like this morning when I hear His words. I think it was God politely saying, “Just relax and spend some time with Me. I want you to slow down and look at the full picture”. I guess I should be thankful for that politeness and not have Him give me a wake-up call πŸ™‚ .

If you’re like me and are a doer, just wanting to get the things done that you need to, I think we need to slow down a bit. When challenges or situations come into our lives and we are uncertain, we need to break away and spend the needed time with God. The most difficult part of the process sometimes is the waiting for the guidance. Perhaps that is Father helping us to grow in patience and in faith.

So today, I’ll continue to lean into Him, I’ll continue to ask for guidance and I’ll listen with an open heart for His answers. Have a great day my friends, and thank you for letting me drop my thoughts here each day πŸ™‚ .

John 7:37
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”

Thanks for helping me set up my day today! Just what I needed to hear. I so often think IΒ Don’t have enough time, when what I need is to take time! – Doug
