I find myself some days asking Father for the same things when I pray. I guess that isn’t so unusual. You know, asking for Him to keep family safe, asking for forgiveness of sins, guidance through the day, very common and needed prayers of course. However, I do find myself asking for specific things and sometimes I feel like Father isn’t hearing me. Then a friend reminded me this morning that first and foremost, Father hears all prayers, and secondly, sometimes it may be that Father wants us to truly believe that He is not only listening but will answer.
Ok, that was kind of all over the place so let me explain. Let’s say that I’m praying for Father to heal a person who might be sick. If I’m simply saying the words and asking for healing, but I’m not truly believing the person can be healed, am I truly praying? Hmmm, kind of deep thinking there isn’t it? It’s true though, if I don’t have faith and the belief that God can and does heal, that God can and does perform miracles, then why am I praying? I have to have the unwavering faith and belief that Father can do anything, and when I pray it should be strong and full of that faith.
I think sometimes we feel God isn’t answering our prayers. Maybe He is waiting for us to show our faith and belief that he WILL answer the prayer. Maybe we need to not only ask Father when we pray, but maybe we need to take the time to truly listen for the answer. Don’t just say the words, but have faith and listen for the response. God speaks to us every day, that’s what I think anyway. The question is, are we listening.
So, I need to remind myself, not to just say the words when I pray, but to lean in with faith and the belief that Father will answer. Now whether it’s the answer I personally want to hear, well, that’s for another little blog π .
Have a great day my friends, and remember, God is always with us!
Matthew 17:20
He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
