I realized this morning as I logged into my website that I’ve written and shared 725 of these little blogs. It seems like yesterday when I created this one-page website, and pushed out my first post. That was over two years ago now, wow, time really does fly by. I am so blessed by the support you all give each day, thank you so, so much.
As I thought about this little blog post for today, before recognizing this was number 726, the words be there came to mind. Then when I saw the milestone of sorts and realized it’s been over two years of writing, these two words have even more meaning. You see, you all have been here for me, and I know that you will continue to be there.
Yesterday my phone rang at work and a young woman on the other end of the line sheepishly asked to speak to one of our pastors. She sounded sad and as I spoke with her to get a little more information, I knew that she needed to talk. I transferred her to one of our clergy to help, they were there when she needed someone.
I’ve shared before that I’m part of a couple of text groups with friends. Yesterday one of them texted just asking for prayers. They are going through a difficult time and they shared their feelings at that moment, and needed support. Almost immediately the responses came, prayers lifted and words of love and encouragement filled the feed. Friends were there when they needed someone.
Father asks us to be there for each other, just as He is here for us. When the need arises, the call comes in, when the door opens, just be there. Sometimes all that is needed is an ear to listen, a hug to give strength, or an encouraging word to overcome a fear. Too often we underestimate how much we can help just by being there.
So friends, first and foremost, thank you for being here for me. When I’ve asked for prayers, you are there, when I’ve needed strength, you’ve encouraged me, when I’ve celebrated you have joined me. Thank you so much. I simply ask that as you go about your day, take a moment to recognize when you can be there for someone else. As crazy as the day may get, stop and listen, give an encouraging word or a simple touch, or even just a smile with a “Good morning”. As I’ve said many times before, you just never know the difference your actions might make in someone’s day or life for that matter. So, continue to be there my friends.
Have a wonderful day, and please continue to say a prayer for Emily Rea and her family.
