Turning It Over

Ya, it’s true, there are times I have a hard time letting go of things and letting others help. It’s my type A head I guess. There comes a point though when you just don’t have a choice, you realize that you can’t do it all, (shocker I know), and you have to rely on others.

Yesterday in this little blog, I mentioned our upcoming Christmas Market. For the last many years, I’ve helped on the Gourmet Canners committee. I’ve headed this committee for the last few years, and love working with this group. With all that is going on at work, while recovering from Milton, I had to raise the white flag and say, something has to give. We’re down to our last item, the famous Mango Chutney, and I realized, I just didn’t have the time to oversee the making of this one. I had to call in reinforcements, I had to turn it over to someone else and trust that things would be ok. So, I sent out an S.O.S. to some amazing volunteers and yesterday they arrived ready to tackle the task at hand.

I helped to get things started, stepping through the instructions, setting up some stations, and they took it from there. By the time the day was finished, 96 jars of the delicious staple were simmered, processed packed, and ready for sale. This is no small task, and I’m just so grateful to the volunteers that frequently shewed me out of the kitchen as I stopped in to check on them. There were several times when I was told, “You have other things to do, go do them, we got this”. 🙂

It’s like when you turn things over to Father, you have to let go of the reigns and trust that He will take care of things. Whatever the situation, there comes a time when you have to let go, you have to realize you can’t do it all and you have to trust in Him to help you get through. Funny thing is, when we trust in Him, when we let Him help, things happen. No different than my group of volunteers yesterday, I turned it over and trusted in them, and yep, things happened, amazing things.

So, a huge thank you to those who helped me yesterday. I’m so grateful for your time and for allowing me to tend to other things.

Friends, we’re not in this alone. We have family, friends, and volunteers to help us through this life. More importantly, we have Father, who just happened to give us those amazing people in our lives. Let’s remember to let go and turn things over, and have faith and trust that all will be OK.

Just a side note, I have family coming into town today for a long weekend, so I’m going to take a few days off from writing this little blog. I’ll be back on Monday with my usual ramblings 🙂 . Have an awesome weekend everyone!

Please continue to lift prayers for those dealing with the aftermath of the recent storms, and please keep sweet Emily Rea in your prayers, may she be found soon.

Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
