Yesterday my husband and I took a drive in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, temperature was almost perfect and I wanted to pick up a gift certificate for a friend from a place about 30 minutes from us.
As we pulled out of our community I noticed that our neighbors had begun to put flags in their yards. The little clubhouse at the front of our community was also lined with flags. It was nice to see so many remembering our Veterans.
The drive to our destination took us past many other communities like ours. I noticed that the little flags decorated almost every community along the way. When we arrived down on Marco Island, (side note, my happy place), those little flags lined both sides of the center median. They lined that center median from one end of the island to the other. It seemed that almost everywhere I turned along that drive there were flags to honor those who have served this nation. It was a beautiful sight.
Friends, we all know someone who has served in the military. Maybe it’s a family member, friend or coworker, they all deserve out thanks. So many of them left spouses and children here in the states to serve and protect our freedoms. Many, made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives defending those freedoms. So yes, today, and every day they deserve our thanks.
I offer this prayer for all who have served this nation:
Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women who served in our armed forces at home and abroad. Even as we give thanks for their service, we pray you defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
It was a beautiful drive yesterday and the weather was just a small piece of it. The display of respect shown to our Veterans was even more beautiful.
Friends, today especially, please say Thank You to a Veteran for their service. Let them know that we remember and we honor that service. 🇺🇸
