I guess it’s pretty common to reflect on the year as it comes to a close. Or do we really reflect on what has happened? I think most of the time, we all just look forward to a new year ahead, a new beginning, and a chance for things to be different. Many times we, that would be the collective to include me, many times we just want to get the year past us and move on, “good riddance” we say many times on New Year’s Eve, as the clock strikes midnight.
Well, this New Year’s Eve morning I wanted to take just a moment and reflect a bit on 2024. This morning I did something that I don’t normally do, I opened up the “stats” page on this little blog. I wanted to see which little blog posts resonated most with you all in 2024. Was there something in particular that moved us all this year? Here’s what I found…first, whenever I came to this little blog to ask you to pray, you did. And…you shared my request with others and they prayed. Second, I found that you all care about others, you care about people you don’t even know, and you pray. Third, you love Jesus.
Yes, 2024 had its challenges. Bad things happened to good people. Things happened that made us question why, (which I don’t normally do, but have to admit there were times this year…). However, through those challenges, through those difficult times, we came together as lovers of Christ and the Father. We came together to support, to encourage, to laugh and cry, and to share the love of Jesus. Prayers were lifted, and answered, some are still “pending” I’d say. Satan did his best to try to shake us, and there were days we thought he might win, but we stood strong in his face and said, “Not today”.
Yes, 2024 had its challenges, but you know what, every day can bring challenges, regardless of the year. Every day also brings the opportunity to grow in our relationship with Father. Every day brings the opportunity to share that relationship with others.
So friends, as we say goodbye to 2024 I simply say Thank You. Thank you for being here with me every day. Thank you for the multitude of prayers when I came here to ask. Thank you for the encouragement you give to me personally. Thank you for letting me share a little piece of myself and my love of Father with you each day.
Happy New Year friends. I’m going to take off tomorrow, I’ll be back on January 2 🙂 .
One last request, as we close 2024, please lift prayers for those still struggling in Western NC, prayers for Jan’s family and prayers for our sweet Emily Rea, that she may return home. Thank you my friends.
1 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
