Father is There

Like many of you, I’ve been watching the news updates about the terrible flooding in TX. Watching for reports about survivors from Camp Mystic where many of the young girls who were camping there for the 4th of July, are still missing. I’ve been praying for the victims, like the camp director who waded through waste deep water to pull campers to safety until he himself was swept away. I’m praying for the families of those lost, praying for the survivors who have been through so much, and praying for the search and rescue teams who are dealing with incredible emotions right now as they find the victims and the survivors. I’m praying for the volunteers who have come from all over to provide supplies, serve meals, and lend a hand wherever they can.

Natural disasters, they happen. Having lived through several, I know they can do incredible damage. However, through it all, Father is there. I know He is there in Texas as well. We’ve heard the stories of survivors, perfect strangers helping each other.

I’m not going to begin to try and explain the why’s of these things happening. I’m choosing to see the incredible love and strength that the Lord is giving so many through this tragedy. I’m choosing to see the compassion coming from a nation. I’m choosing to see the gifts of love pouring out from across this country, to people they do not know, they just know they want to help. Yes friends, Father is there.

I do believe that Jesus was with each and every one of the victims. The little children, the camp director, and the many others who made their way to the beauty of Heaven. I envision Jesus reaching out His arms and wrapping them close, shielding them from the flood waters, and showing them the light and warmth of Heaven.

Let’s all continue to lift prayers for all those affected by this disaster, today and in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Father is there.

Matthew 8:23-27
And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”
