We’ve been working on this little outbuilding next to our church. It’s being transformed into what we are calling the All Souls Chapel. You see, on the East and West sides of our church are sacred churchyards. These are blessed grounds where parishioners have chosen to have their ashes placed upon their death. The churchyards are beautiful, with a bronze plaque displaying mini plaques showing the names of each person buried in this space.
The All Souls Chapel sits just off the West churchyard, and it has been transformed into a beautiful, quiet space where individuals can sit, reflect, and pray while visiting their loved ones. It’s a space that brings comfort.
A few days ago, the final pieces were installed in the All Souls Chapel. Stained glass windows were placed in the round windows on three sides of the building. To say they are beautiful might be an understatement. As you look at the Archangel Gabriel, the Archangel Michael, and our Savior Jesus, you feel a sense of protection and the comfort I mentioned earlier. The windows are simple, yet detailed, and when you look at Jesus sitting with and holding the lambs, you feel like you want to crawl into that setting and be a part of that amazing love.
Settings like this are important in many ways. Of course, to have a place for those who mourn to come and be comforted. However, these places serve as subtle reminders that our Lord, our Savior, He is ever present. I know that I will spend time in this place to sit and be more clearly with Him.
I have known for many months that these windows were being installed. I had even seen renderings of them, so I had an idea what they would look like. I had an idea of the timing of their installation. However, what I didn’t know was how I would feel when I saw them. And…how this morning I find myself thinking about them, recalling that feeling.
Those windows touched me, no, it wasn’t the windows, it was the Lord. Through those beautiful stained glass pieces, He was reminding me, and will remind others, that He is here.
Friends, take a little time as you begin your day to have a conversation with Jesus. Ask Him to guide you through the day, and know that He is always beside you. Have a good day, my friends 🙂 .

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
