How ‘Bout Brunch

Later this morning, we’re going to treat ourselves to brunch with friends we haven’t seen in quite a while. Actually, that’s not entirely true. We see them almost every week. They are neighbors and we’ll chat briefly while their fur baby is walking them in the mornings 🙂 . However, we haven’t been able to spend any real time together to really talk and catch up. So we’re making a point today to not worry about to-do lists and the many things we “should be” doing.

I know I probably sound like a broken record lately, talking about how busy we all are, how crazy the world has gotten, and how digital this and digital that have made us less about being with others. It seems we’re connected 24 hours a day, except when it comes to the human connection. Oh yes, we can check email and text messages any time, day or night. But…what about connecting personally with family and friends? What about taking the time each day, or multiple times a day, to connect one-on-one with Father?

We all need to take some time and ask, “Hey, how about brunch this weekend?”. Ok, it doesn’t have to be brunch, but find time to get together and reconnect. Find the time to be with those you love. Whatever is on your to-do list will still be there after your special time together. Oh, and maybe try something really radical…don’t pull out your phone while you are together, just enjoy the conversation 🙂 .

Friends, let’s take back the time that this world seems to be snatching from us. Let’s reprioritize to those things that the Lord told us are most important, Him and our neighbor (others).

Have a wonderful day, everyone, may it be filled with the gift of time with family and friends, oh, and maybe brunch!

Matthew 22:37-40
And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
