I had planned to write a short little blog this morning about our special day. You see, today is our wedding anniversary 🙂 . I’ve known my better half for over 40 years and can’t think of anyone else I would have rather spent those years with.
Yes, we’ve had our challenges, all married couples do. If you are just recently married and reading this, no worries, yours are coming 🙂 As I look back on our time together, though, the good times and the love far outweigh the challenges.
As couples go through their married life, they become more and more alike. They learn all those little things that make the other “tick”, they find those little things that drive the other crazy, yes, they learn, they laugh, and they love. And…with some hard work and commitment, they find a life so special they can’t imagine being anywhere else.
This year, my husband and I did what is customary for our anniversary, we placed cards on each other’s desks before the other gets to their office. I found a card this year that was so simple. The outside had these etched words made out of wood that read, “Love you more”. When you opened it, it simply said, “and more each day”. Wow, that was so simple but so spot on. What else was there to say? I wrote an even more simple, cute message inside, “‘ Nuff said?”. I placed the card on his desk last night before I went to bed.
This morning, when I sat down here to write this little blog, there was a card from my husband. As I picked it up, I thought it felt kind of familiar. I opened the envelope and began to laugh. He had purchased the very same card. And…when I opened it, the inscription was the very same sentiment. It read, “What more can I say?”.
I wandered into his office and we both laughed, agreeing that, “You might be together a long time when…”. This was a first for us, but my goodness, what a wonderful message from Father. The affirmation that you are where you are supposed to be. You’ve found your soulmate. Now granted, I’ve known that for a very long time, it’s just nice when the Lord steps in to say He loves us and what we’ve built together.
So, today, friends, I wish the love of my life a very happy anniversary. You are the most caring husband, father, and grandfather there is. I love you with all that I am, and I thank you for spending your life with me.
Have a wonderful day, everyone 🙂 .
Ephesians 5:31
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
