On the Rock

Do you ever have moments when you have so much going through your mind that you almost feel paralyzed? Maybe ‘paralyzed’ isn’t the right word. How ’bout ‘stuck,’ where you just feel stuck? This morning I was stuck.

I had my quiet time as I usually do, talking with Father, although it was a little more intense, I guess you would say, than it usually is. Why, you might ask. Well, I’ve recognized that satan has been doing a happy dance in my head for the last few days, and unfortunately, I’ve given him the music. Ugh, what are you doing? So, as I talked with the Lord, I asked Him to push the feelings I was having from me. I called for the evil one to leave me, asking the Lord to fill that space. As I did so, I felt the “tingle” that I get when I know that God is near me. From my head to my toes, they just tingled. I noticed that my mind felt clearer, more composed. “Thank You, Lord”, I said openly.

I went about my morning doing a few things out of my routine, all the while thinking about what had happened during my conversation. I thought about how Jesus is always there, just waiting to be asked into the situation at hand. As I stood at my ironing board, I heard something: “I am the rock, hold on to Me”. Well, that was a pretty clear message.

I began to recall all the references in the Bible about that very thing. How Jesus is the rock for all of us. The scripture reminds us, The rain fell, the floods came, the wind blew, and the house built on the rock did not fall, (Matthew 7:24-27).

Lots going on these days, my friends. We’re all busy, school is starting, and the laziness of summer is nearing an end. For us down here in SW Florida, hurricane season is in full swing, and before we know it, our little city will be filled with people making their way for the winter. It’s easy to get stuck. It’s easy to feel paralyzed. Don’t be. Jesus is waiting right there to be invited into whatever you are going through. He’s the rock that is stable and secure. He will never fall.

So, time to get about this day. Don’t let satan do the happy dance; demand that he find another dance floor. Then, let our Lord fill that space and make it a wonderful day 🙂 .

Have a good one, my friends, continued prayers today and every day for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

p.s. Thanks to my friend Liz Brunson for the beautiful sunset picture from the Heartland recently, the cover of today’s little blog!

1 Corinthians 10:4
And all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.
